Color is Never Accidental

If you know me, you know I’m intentional with color. I don’t use it just for the sake of it, every shade I choose has a reason for being there. Sometimes it’s bold and expressive, other times it’s soft and subtle, but it’s always deliberate. Color sets the tone. It stirs emotion. It transforms the way a space feels.
Often, it’s the quietest details like the hint of blush or a touch of green that make the biggest impact. I love using color as a tool to shape how people experience a room. Here are a few ways I’ve done just that:

On a custom yacht project, I upholstered the seating in vibrant royal blue stripes. The bold, saturated color gave the space a distinct energy that is playful, memorable, and completely unexpected. Just one fearless color choice can change everything.

How fun is this child’s bedroom! We used a jungle wallpaper mural featuring palm trees, lions, zebras, and elephants to create an immersive, playful environment that sparks imagination and adventure. The numerous green shades are a focal point and very easy to update as the child grows and their tastes evolve.

Color doesn’t always have to take over a room to make an impact. In my La Jolla project, a pop of gold from an antique Japanese screen became the soul of the space. Sometimes, the right accessory can deliver more than any wall of paint ever could.

I love layering rich tones like red, burgundy, and fuchsia against neutral backdrops. It adds warmth, dimension, and personality. When used with intention, color becomes one of the most powerful storytelling tools in design.
